Well it’s that time of the year, and scrooge has arrived once again. But he also brings some friends with him. Not your normal Xmas book. But worth the read.

This fun quick read entertains us by introducing a space pirate who is pretty bad guy, pretty much money driven family guy to get him off the naughty list. Just like Scrooge he is very shrewd and mean in his dealings with mankind. In his dreams on Christmas night he is introduced to the three ghosts of Christmas on Christmas Eve, where he eventually feels pangs of guilt and does Mr Scrooge thing on Christmas Day.
Like I say this is a fast read it’s only 70 pages long and it is entertaining.

Update of Charles Dickens’s Scrooge with certain adjustments for unbending space captains – 5 stars The novella was fast, fun, and respectful of the spirit of Christmas. Captain Roberts is still the ruler of Queen Anne’s Revenge – a pirate who is self-assured, steels ships and their contents, keeps the gold and sells everything else at a good price. In a word – Captain Roberts is the King of his domain. He is the essence of a pirate. The ladies love him, his crew tolerates him, and his enemies hate him. What is not to like if you are Captain Roberts? In this case, even the ghosts of the past, current, and future are well aware of the Captain’s reputation. Captain Roberts knows full well what his reputation is and has been working on embellishing every one of his long list of self-serving interests. Until now. The ghosts acquaint the good captain with the importance of joy, kindness, respect, and – to the Captain’s surprise – pain. Heretofore, applying pain was done unto others. When he gets a taste of his blood and his pain, well, it’s time to re-think the plan — not to become a recluse, cleric, or goody goodie, but to make certain adjustments. The is no way to take the badness out of Captain Roberts but some adjustments can be made. Read this book to enjoy a different view of the seasons’ spirit.
